N5 was selected for APAR-E Award




ROCKVILLE – N5 Sensors Inc.  announced on 11/20/2017 that it was selected to receive a competitive $1.53 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). This award will be used to develop next-generation carbon dioxide sensing technology to reduce energy use in commercial/residential buildings.

“This funding will allow N5 to bring a disruptive CO2 sensing technology to the marketplace,” said Abhishek Motayed, N5 Sensors’ CEO. “It will enable us to speed up the development of our game-changing CO2 sensor product. We are very excited to be part of ARPA-E’s innovative project portfolio.”

Rockville-based N5 Sensors Inc. is developing sensor technologies and products for different applications. With this award, N5 aims to develop a digital system-on-chip (SoC) CO2 sensor technology that will enable the ARPA-E SENSOR program’s goal of 30% reduction in energy use in commercial and residential buildings. The sensor technology with embedded analytics in a small innovative package will revolutionize the building demand control ventilation (DCV) with considerable results in energy cost savings.

N5 Sensors Inc. received this competitive award from ARPA-E’s Saving Energy Nationwide in Structures with Occupancy Recognition (SENSOR) program, which supports innovative and highly accurate presence sensors and occupant counters that optimize heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC) of buildings while reducing cost and slashing energy use. SENSOR project teams can take advantage of existing low-cost wireless and electronic communication technologies and could reduce HVAC energy usage by 30% while simultaneously addressing user requirements for cost, privacy, and usability.

N5 has received CRPP Award




N5 was awarded Commercial Pilot Readiness Program (CRPP) by US Dept. of Homeland Security, which would allow N5 to advance the development and manufacturing of the technology developed under the DHS contract award number HSHQDC-15-C-00075, H-SB014.2-006, Field Detection and Analysis or Fire Gases and Particulates. The CRPP allows agencies to make one additional SBIR Phase II type follow on award to small businesses, for technology development, testing, evaluation and commercialization assistance for SBIR Phase II technologies.

8-Channel High-Precision Sensor Acquisition Board




This board is designed with 8 differential-input, quarter-bridge configuration with precision resistors with on-board 16-bit sigma-delta programmable-gain ADC. On-Board integrated temperature and humidity sensor allows for accurate compensation of the gas sensor data.

A commercial-off-the-shelf dust sensor module can be integrated onto the board for additional functionality.
